natureplus Conference 2022

Under the motto "RE.THINK BUILDING - materials and low-tech for climate- and cycle-friendly building", natureplus will be holding a specialist conference with an associated exhibition of materials on 09 September 2022 at the Quadriga Forum Berlin from 9 am to 10 pm and will be celebrating 20 years of natureplus with a "Sustainability Slam".

The construction industry is facing great challenges. The German government would like to see 400,000 new homes built every year - and this in line with its climate and resource protection goals. The existing housing shortage is a social explosive. But this expansion target is now receding into the distance: rising material costs and mortgage interest rates, a shortage of skilled workers and supply chain difficulties are putting pressure on the industry. Also because of stricter conditions for subsidies for sustainable (new) construction, every tenth building project is currently put on hold.

How can the existing shortage be remedied? Certainly not with the old recipes and with more and more technology and materials. Never has it been more important to drive the transformation of the building sector towards climate protection, resource conservation and healthy living, and at the same time to tap the potential that this offers for low-cost, prefabricated and serial construction and renovation. Whether building in the existing stock, building in cycles or "simple building" - building can and must be rethought and put into practice.

Rethink building - with sustainable materials and construction methods

At this year's conference, we will discuss with numerous experts from Germany and Europe various approaches to solving the challenges of the building industry described above and, in particular, show how recyclable, climate-protecting and healthy building materials as well as low-tech construction methods can contribute to meeting the enormous demand for (living) space in harmony with climate and resource protection goals. In two parallel forums, the focus will be on thought-provoking ideas and best practices for conversion, adding storeys and low-tech potentials on the one hand, and on the potentials of sustainable building materials and construction methods for refurbishing and improving the energy efficiency of existing buildings on the other. In order to appeal to the expected international audience, some of the lectures and forums will be held in English.

An exciting programme with a variety of formats and top-class speakers awaits you on the premises of the Quadriga Forum Berlin. At our materials fair and during a short presentation in Elevator Pitch format, you will also have the opportunity to come into direct contact with various natureplus-certified building materials manufacturers and get to know their products. Following the conference, we look forward to celebrating the 20th anniversary of natureplus with you and rounding off the evening in a cosy atmosphere with a "Sustainability Slam".
